Connect Staffing Group is committed to a future in which we are all living sustainably within our natural and built environments. We will focus on sustainability as a key driver in its own activities and to integrate sustainability considerations into all our business decisions. We are committed to improving the environmental performance of our office and our service-based activities. This forms a key component of our commitment to demonstrate good environmental practice in our own operations and adopting an environmental management system based on ISO 14001.To do this we have established appropriate procedures and practices to minimise the consumption of energy, water, paper and other material inputs, and minimise the generation of waste, associated with our normal activities. This will guide and assist our efforts to:
- Comply with relevant environmental legislation, applicable legal requirements and other requirements as necessary.
- Establish and maintain a systematic risk-based approach which will promote continual improvement and prevent pollution.
- Encourage the use of environmentally friendly materials and use of inputs that have minimal adverse impact on the environment.
- Ensure that sourcing throughout our supply chain remains environmentally and socially responsible
- Monitor, control and minimize environmental impact arising from our activities through efficient use of resources.
- Provide and maintain environmental controls aligned with industry standards and community expectations
- Ensure that all staff and members are aware of their environmental responsibilities through training and effective lines of communication.
Connect Staffing Group is committed to:
- Procure environmentally preferable products where criteria have been established by governmental or other widely recognized authorities (e.g. Energy Star, Water Efficiency Labeling Scheme).
- Integrate environmental factors into all buying decisions. For example:
- Replacing disposables with reusables or recyclables
- Supporting eco-labeling practices by buying products bearing such labels in preference to others, where they are available and provide value for money
- Taking into account life cycle costs and benefits
- Evaluating the environmental performance of vendors in providing products and services
- Raise staff awareness of the environmental issues affecting procurement by providing relevant information and training.
- Encourage suppliers and contractors to offer environmentally preferable products and services at competitive prices.
- Comply with all environmental legislative and regulatory requirements in the procurement of products and services.
- Ensure that all workers are protected from health and safety risks associated with climate change, including heat stress, extreme weather, and environmental or climate – related hazards.
Responsibility
All Connect staffing Group employees and members shall identify and purchase the most environmentally responsible products and services that are available for the intended purpose and that meet the performance requirements. Factors that should be considered when determining environmentally preferable products or services include, but are not limited to:
- The proportion of virgin material to recycled material used in the product
- Recyclability of product at its end of life
- The volume of packaging
- The product’s energy and water consumption
- Toxicity reduction or elimination
- The use of forestry certified wood products only
- Ongoing durability and maintenance requirements
- Ultimate disposal of the product
Connect Staffing Group will use this policy wherever possible, however, it does not mean exclusive purchasing where it does not perform adequately for its intended use; is not available at a reasonable price or within a reasonable time frame. We recognise that all staff and members have a responsibility to assist the Company in meeting these commitments, empowering staff to minimise our environmental impacts through generating staff awareness and encouraging participation and feedback.
Office staff responsibilities
Internally, office staff can follow the following steps to help reduce our carbon footprint.
- Dispose of rubbish correctly (segregated bins in kitchen)
- Use “Sleep” mode when away from computers
- Shutdown your computer at the end of the day, especially at weekends
- Do not print documents unnecessarily
- Turn off lights that aren’t being used (ie. Kitchen and Printer rooms)
- Avoid using single use coffee cups
- Carpooling and/or the use of public transportation or riding a bike
- Use telecommunication instead of driving to meetings where possible (Skype, Zoom etc)
Connect Staffing Group is hopeful that the above will be considered in everyday life, away from work. Reducing Carbon Emissions is everyone’s responsibility.
